Sciatica
Have you heard about Sciatica? If you ever experience an excruciating pain at your buttocks that sometimes runs down the thigh and calf or even down to the big toe, you will never want to experience it again.
Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, which branches from your lower back through your hips and buttocks and down each leg. This pain typically affects only one side of your body and can vary in intensity, from a mild ache to sharp, severe pain. Sciatica is often caused by compression or irritation of the sciatic nerve, commonly due to a herniated disk, bone spur on the spine, or spinal stenosis.
Hands-on techniques such as Bowen Therapy and Trigger point release can be applied by our qualified physical therapist. These techniques aim to improve mobility, reduce pain, and promote healing.
Slipped disc
Recently, the number of Slipped disc patients are increasing and also now common for people at younger age. Since the lockdown a few years back, most of us begin to work in front of computers. Did you know that long sitting, bad posture and immobility is the reason of many major spine issue?Â
“Slipped disc” is a term often used to describe a herniated or bulging disc in the spine. The spine is made up of a series of vertebrae, each separated by intervertebral discs. These discs act as cushions, absorbing shock and providing flexibility to the spine. However, when a disc becomes herniated or bulges out of its normal position, it can press on nearby nerves, causing pain, numbness, tingling, or weakness in the affected area.
At Hands-On Physio, we use Bowen Technique and Therapeutical Exercises as an effective treatment approach for managing the symptoms of a slipped disc.Â
These treatments help relax tight muscles and reduce inflammation around the herniated disc. By releasing tension in the muscles and connective tissues, these techniques can alleviate pain, improve circulation, and facilitate the healing process.
Lower back pain
Lower back pain seems to be one of the common cases that we see today. Technology have made things easy for us that we don’t have to move as frequent. Muscles get tightened and spasm due to lack of mobility, sedentary lifestyle, that later on lead to various causes, including muscle strains, ligament sprains, herniated discs, spinal stenosis, osteoarthritis, and poor posture, among others.Â
At Hands-On Physio, we use Bowen Technique to focus on releasing tension in the muscles, tendons, and ligaments of the lower back. By addressing soft tissue restrictions, our physios will help to improve overall function and range of motion in the lower back.

For this case, our therapists will understand the issue and treat it from the root cause of the pain most probably around cervical area.Â

Knee pain
Knee pain is a common symptom that can arise from various causes, ranging from acute injuries to chronic conditions. The knee is a complex joint that plays a crucial role in supporting body weight and facilitating movement, making it susceptible to injury and wear and tear over time. Mostly, knee pain is experienced due to injuries such as ligament sprains, muscle strains, meniscus tears, or fractures, which can cause sudden onset knee pain. These injuries often occur during sports activities, accidents, or falls and can result in symptoms such as swelling, bruising, instability, and difficulty bearing weight on the affected knee.
High-impact stress on the knee joint, such as running, jumping, or kneeling, can lead to overuse injuries and chronic knee pain. Degenerative conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or gout, can also cause progressive damage to the structures of the knee joint, leading to chronic pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility. These conditions often develop with age or as a result of repetitive stress on the joint over time.

Other potential causes of heel pain include Achilles tendinitis, heel spurs, stress fractures, bursitis, and nerve entrapment.
